HP 51640/644/645 & C6615A

HP 820/850/855/870/720/722/890/1000/750 Printers - Black Cartridge

PREPARATION
Step 1:
Remove cartridge from printer.

Step 2:
Scrape off the round plastic seal as shown below, using a flat blade. When seal is removed, the ball bearing will be exposed.

Step 3:
Push the ball into the cartridge as shown below, using a ballpoint pen or other suitable object.

NOTE: This cartridge works on the same principle as the HP hi-capacity (51629A) cartridge. It retains the ink with a slight negative pressure. This is why you must squeeze the sides of the cartridge before filling and sealing. If you fill the cartridge first when the sides are squeezed ink will overflow from the fill hole.

REFILL AND SEAL

Step4:
Using the syringe in your kit, attach the pink needle (not the 4" needle) use the blunt 3/4 " needle and draw about 10 cc of ink into the syringe.

Step5:
Before you begin filling the cartridge squeeze the cartridge with a pony clamp (see below) or similar device. If you fill the cartridge first and then squeeze it ink will spill over from the fill hole.

Step6:
Fill the cartridge through the hole created by pushing the ball in, as shown below. DO NOT OVER FILL. If the cartridge was empty, it will take about 30 cc of ink to fill it, maybe a little less.

Step7:
When the filling operation is complete and while the clamp is still squeezing the cartridge insert the plug /screw that came with the kit (see below). Ensure the screw is secure and tight. Turn the cartridge upside down (actually right side up now) and release the clamp or other squeeze device. If the cartridge seeps when you turn it upright let it drain in a paper cup until it stops dripping. Never put a seeping cartridge in your printer.
