General Refilling Tips
Remove cartridge from printer.

Do your refilling over protected area, throw away aluminum pie/cake pan is ideal.

Assemble syringe and needle. Remove protective shield from needle. Fill syringe by putting needle in ink and slowly pull back on plunger.

The ideal time to refill cartridges is before they are completely empty. Do not refill cartridges that have sat empty for long periods of time, i.e. two weeks or longer. The sponge becomes dry and will not absorb the ink and the cartridge may leak. If a print head is attached to the cartridge, it may be clogged with dried ink and therefore will not work properly.

Make sure you put the correct color ink in the right fill hole. One way to be sure is stick a clean toothpick into the hole before filling. This will leave an ink residue on the toothpick so you can tell which color ink goes where. Magenta is the red and cyan is the blue.

It is always better to under fill a cartridge than to overfill. You only need to saturate the sponge not have it float in ink. You can withdraw some ink with the syringe if you have ink flowing out of the fill hole, which indicates an overfilled cartridge.

Always refill cartridge before it runs out of ink to ensure you don't burn out the print head. This will extend the life of the cartridge.

Never touch the print head or electrodes on your cartridge. Any dirt, oil or foreign matter may clog the jets and render your cartridge inoperable. If storing extra filled cartridges, put them in a zip lock bag and store at room temperature or use a cartridge cover.

When storing a cartridge with a print head, after refilling blot the print head with a paper towel saturated with print head cleaner. Before using the cartridge blot the print head again the same way to dissolve any dried ink that may have accumulated.

If you rest your cartridge on a paper towel, do not let it set on the towel for more than two minutes (unless you are performing troubleshooting for the specific cartridge). This will prevent the wicking effect which will empty the cartridge of ink. It is a good idea to have a clip/cover to put the cartridge in.
